T. Volker had published his book "Porcelain and the Dutch East India Company in 1954 and someone prompted him to continue his research and publish something about Japanese porcelain. And so he did. After that Soame Jenyns insisted to continue the work and publishing what he could find about the Chinese porcelain trade of the Dutch after 1963. Volker was 65 and pensioned off but a very much younger man, Christiaan Jörg of Leiden University told him he was interested in the subject. And so, after intensive research admirably work has been done and resulted in this book.
