De stijl van Paulides is door verschillende stadia gegaan en is beïnvloed door de art deco stijl van zijn jeugd en door zijn (twee!) reizen naar Indonesië. In het Tropenmuseum is een fantastische wandschildering van hem te zien. Deze publicatie, waarin hij een portret schildert van wat hij ervaarde als de echte Javaan of Balinees, vult een hiaat op in de Nederlandse kunsthistorie.

Paulides's style went through several stages, influenced by the Art Deco style of his youth and his (two!) trips to Indonesia. A fantastic mural by him is on display at the Tropenmuseum. This publication, in which he paints a portrait of what he perceived as the true Javanese or Balinese, fills a gap in Dutch art history.
