The dictionary includes still life painters (2006) who depicted game or birds in their pictures (sometimes accompanied by one of more live ones) and also genre painters who also occasionally included a wild bird or wild animal in genre scene. The artist may have made preliminary sketches of the animal that may sooner or later come on the market. Although the dictionary is limited to artists who worked two-dimensionally (painters, draughtsmen, etchers, engravers, lithographers, sculptors where als included when known or suspected to have made sketches or finished drawings of wild birds or animals.
